Expert, Multinational Team of Instructors
We believe that in order for instructors and trainers to deliver the best possible learning and development for participants they must:
- Be passionate and knowledgeable about the development of people
- Be passionate about, and skilled in, the outdoors
- Be professional, qualified and experienced
Becoming an Outward Bound instructor is a major challenge in itself. The professional outdoor practitioner who leads your programme has qualified as an instructor by completing a 14 days Odyssey Course, 64 days of trainings and assessments and 22 days on-the-job training totally 100 days of intensive training. The training includes group management, facilitation, education methodology, as well as training in technical skills, risk management, and emergency response for all Outward Bound courses. They also receive regular ongoing training locally and internationally. Our instructors come from a range of different cultures and backgrounds, and are chosen as much for their ability to lead and instruct people, as they are for their language abilities, interpersonal and technicalskills. Each instructor has passed a Police Screening Clearance and maintains qualifications in wilderness first aid and lifesaving.
