The last few months have presented challenges across the globe. Here at Outward Bound Hong Kong we have taken steps to support Hong Kong society’s fight against the virus and have not been running courses since January. Of course, we also fully support the decision to close schools and keep students safe.
With schools closed we have not been able to serve young people. But, we have welcomed the challenge and have been working hard to take this as an opportunity, not a setback. We have used this time to offer additional training to our staff, and have spent time updating and repairing our equipment and bases, testing our systems, and doing acts of service. Now, we are more ready than ever to continue delivering the highest quality courses.
After months of staying safe at home, the need for connecting with friends and peer groups in nature is greater than ever. The challenges that will be faced by all young people are still present – students will still be transitioning from Primary into Secondary, from Secondary to University, or from one year to the next, and will need every ounce of resilience and self-confidence that they can get.
After so long away from their support networks there may be additional challenges and they will need to have the confidence that an Outward Bound course can provide. There are generations of students who have gone before this one that have taken the lessons from an Outward Bound course into all aspects of their future.
Given that this is an unusual year, we do not want youth to miss out and we are therefore providing the opportunity for groups of friends to come together to take part in a life-changing course. We know what it means to have gone through this rite-of-passage and don’t want this year’s students to be adversely affected. Children can form their own group of 12 of their classmates and friends this summer. Please email email@example.com for more details.
The Outward Bound experience is not only a highlight before their graduation, but also a remarkable childhood memory and a chance to prepare for the future. We are looking forward to giving future students the benefits of our courses and being able to contribute to Hong Kong society in years to come.
