Outward Bound Hong Kong has always placed a high importance on practicing hygiene on course, and will continue to do so as it is now more important than ever. Hygiene practices include briefing students on health standards and personal responsibility in following them, frequent hand washing, and hygienic meal preparation.
Outward Bound Hong Kong is continuously assessing the situation and updating our policies and procedures to manage the risk of Covid-19 on our courses. As the situation is changing rapidly and there are new developments almost daily, OBHK is continuously updating our safety measures to reflect the current situation and current government recommendations. Please note that the specific safety measures on your course may differ to reflect the current situation.
Our current measures include:
Masks must be worn upon arrival at base where temperature checks and health declarations must be completed. This ensures everyone in the area is protected and more at ease with this enforcement. However, it will not be practical to require participants to wear masks all the time, for example with water activities. On land where reasonable, students will be given the choice to wear masks. If required to take public transportation, wearing masks will be mandatory. Participants are requested to bring extra masks as a precaution.
Not necessary as OBHK will issue a personal set of cutlery and crockery to each participant (that is numbered and recorded) which will be used by themselves only and looked after throughout the entire course duration. These will be sterilised and cleaned thoroughly frequently under field staff supervision.
OBHK will strictly follow Government mandates and respond accordingly whether is it appropriate to continue or cancel the programme. If the Government imposes restrictions which do not allow our operations to continue then we will cancel the programme in accordance and make necessary arrangements for all.

Here are some frequently asked questions we have received so far:
1. Are you requiring kids to wear masks during activities?
Masks must be worn by all at the drop-off point where temperature checks and health declarations must be completed.
2. This ensures everyone in the area is protected and more at ease with this enforcement.
However, it will not be practical to require students to wear masks all the time, for example with water activities. On land where reasonable, students will be given the choice to wear masks. If required to take public transportation, wearing masks will be mandatory. Participants are requested to bring extra masks as a precaution.
3. Given the current surge of local Covid-19 cases, is the camping going ahead as scheduled?
Yes, camping will still go ahead. Participant to tent ratio will remain unchanged.
Where possible OBHK will stagger groups for in-base and off-site activities so that dormitories have reduced capacity.
4. Should we pack our own utensils , cup and cutlery?
Not necessary as OBHK will issue a personal set of cutlery and crockery to each participant (that is numbered and recorded) which will be used by themselves only and looked after throughout the entire course duration. These will be sterilised and cleaned thoroughly frequently under field staff supervision.
5. Will the camp be affected by school suspension?
No, the programme will continue to run as scheduled.
6. What is the arrangement when the camp cannot proceed as planned?
OBHK will strictly follow Government mandates and respond accordingly whether is it appropriate to continue or cancel the programme. If the Government imposes restrictions which do not allow our operations to continue then we will cancel the programme in accordance and make necessary arrangements for all. We will contact students and parents individually if alternative arrangements have been made for your course.
