Following the success of its inaugural event in 2017 where 34 participants were given the opportunity to abseil down the face of One Island East – a full 1000 feet, Outward Bound Hong Kong are bringing back this breath-taking challenge for another 40 brave adventure seekers this November.
Co-hosted by Outward Bound Hong Kong and Swire Properties Ltd, a sharing session was held on 23 Aug for the Swire tenants to find out the background of the event and how this thrilling and uplifting experience can make benefits to the participant himself and the community. 20 representatives from RPC, Prudential, Adedas, Zurich, E&Y, Chubb, Make Up Forever, etc were in attendance.
The Sharing Session was kicked off by Mr. Nick Cotton, Executive Director of Outward Bound Hong Kong. He expressed his gratitude to all fundraisers participating in the HK Vertical 1000 in 2017 for fulfilling social responsibility through supporting the ongoing work of Outward Bound Hong Kong, which enable young people to unleash their potential and equip themselves to make contributions back to our community. The Sharing Session included everything they need to know about this unique fundraising event, such as the prior training opportunity, the physical level required to tackle the challenge, how the pre-training can best prepare them for the big day, tips to conquer fear, what participants enjoy and fear most, etc.
Highlight of the session was three descendants of HK vertical 1000 in 2017, including Mr William Robinson, Freshfields, Ms Kim Kan, KPMG, Mr Campos Cheng, Deacons, sharing their personal abseiling experience with the audience. Topics covered ‘how to convince their parents to let them attempt this slightly crazy adventure’, companies’ involvement in this event, and the experience to abseil down the building where working and looking into the office from outside.
