This February marks the end of our pilot programme, “Jockey Club Experiential Learning Expeditions”. Since 2017, the Jockey Club Charities Trust has sponsored nearly 1000 students and 96 teachers from a total of 11 different local secondary schools as they embarked on their unique Outward Bound Journeys.
Over 3 years the Jockey Club Programme developed students’ essential life skills: resilience, leadership, and teamwork. Students took part in kayak and land expeditions, high ropes challenges, OBHK’s signature jetty jump, and volunteered their services in Sai Kung and Wong Wan Chau area.
After the programme, more than 90% of students reported that they had improved in Leadership, Resilience and Teamwork. Teachers and Principals also validate the visible changes in terms of students’ attitude and level of motivation back at schools.
As the programme draws to a close, we would like to once again thank the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and our partner schools that make this project successful for their ongoing support:
Outward Bound would also like to thank Wylie Hui, who ran the programme for its three years. Wylie’s hard work and dedication made the programme the success that it was. We wish Wylie the best of luck on her new adventures!
