Nick Cotton, OBHK Executive Director, Mike Armstrong, OBHK Head of Operations and Richard Winter, OBHK EXCO Chairman, attended the 2019 Outward Bound International (OBI) World Conference hosted by Outward Bound Oman. The world conference is schools’ and individuals chance to share successful developments with the OBI network, explore innovative solutions to marketing, sales, fundraising, programmes and strategic planning, and contribute to OBI’s strategic plan.
OBI oversees the network of licensed member Outward Bound Schools that make up the worldwide Outward Bound Community and focus on:
The conference was held at Outward Bound Oman’s Desert Centre which is in the middle of the Sharqiya Sands of Oman, with no WIFI or cell reception, and the delegates from 45 of the 48 Outward Bound Schools from around the world slept outside under the stars. Two of the most important workshops in the conference were the presentation of the OBI Strategic Plan as well the release of the global framework of “What is means to be Outward Bound.” We will be sharing these documents with the HK community in coming months.
It was important for OBHK to be involved and represented at this conference to share in the learning, align with OBI’s new vision and Strategic Plan, network with other OB colleagues, as well as to help mentor and coach some of the newer schools that have recently been granted licenses by OBI. Some of these schools include Outward Bound Bahrain, Outward Bound Netherlands and Outward Bound UAE.
