Finally, it’s today! Although Kongrey, the super typhoon, brought some changes to our sailing schedule, we’ve been in ‘standby mode’ to be ready for the adventure. We seize the best weather conditions. And today is the day!
A huge thanks to CWBGCC for sponsoring 20impact20, and to OBHK for organizing this amazing event. The preparation work leading up to this moment has been intense, and the most important part is the 24/7 onshore support during our journey. We’ll be staying in touch with the OBHK staff and Simon, our weather man, for the latest updates on weather and sea conditions.
Flying to Japan is easy, but sailing there is a different story! This could be a once-in-a-lifetime adventure - I’m so grateful for the trust Amelia, our beloved captain. And yay! We’re expecting strong winds and rough waves.
Today, we started with winds of around 20 knots in a rocky sea. It was our first challenge; some of us got soaked from head to toe while hoisting the sails, and a few experienced seasickness. Thumbs up to our first mother watch, Viann and Sin Yi, who kept on cleaning for us even after getting sick. Let’s be resilient!
Last but not least, a heartfelt thank you to our beloved family and friends for your support. Your love gives us courage.
P.S. Shoutout to my Leg 2 buddies—cha siu and curry fish ball! You made our day; so yummy!
P.P.S. Thumbs up to myself as well; I vomited twice while typing this diary entry. Yay!
