Last week, we just wrapped up the 7 days sailing training. As someone new to sailing, it was my first time experiencing both the joys and challenges of life on the water.
The most unforgettable part was the 24-hour continuous sailing challenge in rough seas. That day, we sailed past the stunning landscapes of Tai Tam, Po Toi Island, and the Gua Zhao Islands.
The cabin and the deck felt like two completely different worlds. On deck, the winds and waves were fierce, and while on duty, we had to stay extremely vigilant, always ready to handle unexpected situations. After finishing our watch, I looked forward to a good rest, but the cabin was hot and stuffy, and then it was time to head back on deck to continue working—definitely a test of endurance.
Fortunately, I had an amazing team by my side. No matter how each of us was feeling, even in tough times, we were able to encourage one another. Their support made all the difference in helping me push through.
This training helped me realize that overcoming challenges during our sailing journey is much like the difficulties faced by our impact project service recipients in life. The support and encouragement of partners are incredibly important. It also reinforced our commitment to our future direction and confidence in our service.
I’m looking forward to officially setting sail for Okinawa next week, ready not only to bravely face the challenges ahead but also to enjoy every beautiful moment along the way!
