COURSE OVERVIEW

Our Explorer Course is a development programme designed to take young people beyond a simple camp and into a deeper outdoor experience, while still being appropriate for their age. It builds on the skills and confidence often gained in introductory courses like the Discovery Course, but is also suitable for first‑time participants who are within the age range and ready for a new level of challenge.

The primary emphasis is “development through outdoor living”: spending full days active outdoors, living more simply, and experiencing two overnight camps outside the dormitory. Through activities on land and water, shared camp routines and team challenges, participants solve problems together and discover what it means to contribute to and rely on a team.

Who is it for?

  • Young people aged 12–14 with basic fitness and mobility

  • Those who want to move beyond “just a camp” into a real outdoor journey

  • Suitable for individuals and school groups (lower secondary / junior high)

  • No previous Outward Bound experience is required.

Why Outward Bound?

Outward Bound Hong Kong (registered charity since 1970) has helped hundreds of thousands of young people build resilience, confidence and practical life skills through accredited experiential programmes.

Our instructors are AEE‑accredited and safety‑trained, specializing in journey-based development for teenagers.
