Key objectives

Empowering Parents to Be Their Children's "Allies"—Learning and Growing Together in Nature!

The Parent-Child Program is a unique course that combines outdoor experiential education with parenting development guidance. This program targets families with primary- to junior-high school students, offering challenges and cooperative tasks in nature that enable parents and children to experience, learn, and grow together. Parents are no longer mere observers but become their children's "allies," learning to support their growth with a growth mindset.

We believe that key competencies such as resilience, positive thinking, teamwork, and emotional regulation are not solely learned through books but are cultivated through "hands-on experiences" and "emotional connections."

Target participants

Families eager to challenge themselves and foster a culture of resilience, each family should consist of one Primary 5 or 6 student and one parent or legal guardian.

Project fee

Participating families will be Fully Funded, which includes all program costs and insurance. Each participant is required to pay a deposit of HKD 800 (calculated individually, totalling HKD 1,600 for one student and one parent). This deposit will be fully refunded upon completion of the program*.

*The deposit will be refunded in full by Outward Bound Hong Kong to the enrolling school after participants complete the entire program and meet the following conditions:

  1. Attendance at all program activities: Parents (considered as the same parent/guardian throughout all stages) must attend three one-day sessions, while students are required to participate in one five-day training camp and one one-day session.

  2. Completion and online submission of parent-child collaborative tasks: A minimum of three tasks must be completed from a total of six :
    a. A reminder will be provided to parents during the second stage.
    b. A WhatsApp group will be established for announcements.

  3. Completion of all evaluation questionnaires :
    a. Both parents and students are required to complete three evaluation questionnaires each, which will be arranged by Outward Bound Hong Kong for completion on the day of participation.
    b. The questionnaires are designed and conducted by The Education University of Hong Kong for outcome research.

*Photographs or videos may be taken during the course for fundraising records and marketing purposes.

Cultivate a sustainable 'Resilience Bank' in youth
by equipping participants with future skills, strengthening their support networks, and deepening positive community
connections for long-term well-being.

Empower parents as resilience partners by enhancing their own resilience and providing them with strategies to effectively support their youth’s development.

Foster collaborative and lasting change by cultivating joint parent-youth resilience strategies within the primary caregiving relationship, ensuring sustained positive outcomes for both.
