Meet TEAM CIS - Sean Lynch, Frederick Fong & Tim Blackburn, the Faces of Courage!
On 2023 Nov 24-25, they will take up a huge challenge - to abseil from 1000ft at the iconic One Island East.
HK Vertical 1000 is not just a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to step out of their comfort zone, but also the chance to fundraise for a local charity - Outward Bound Hong Kong and its work to #FutureProofYOUth.
When Chinese International School's Head of School and two of our parents share the same value to support Outward Bound's work, they form Team CIS to take up the challenge!

As someone who has long been scared of heights, the HK Vertical 1000 is an exciting (...and daunting!) opportunity to lean into, and hopefully transcend, a massive personal challenge.
Yet as Head of Chinese International School, I also know that the most meaningful learning is experiential in nature, and that the richest educational experiences are often those that allow us to stretch the boundaries of what we believe to be possible for ourselves.
It will be a special honour for me to participate in the service of Outward Bound Hong Kong, whose exceptional commitment to the youth of our city is an immense source of inspiration for us all!

As a child many moons ago, I always enjoyed the thrill and excitement of Outward Bound. I would like to bring this sense of adventure and fun to my children (Ages 7 and 10) who both attend CIS.
Little did I realize that a business lunch with Mr. Sean Lynch, Head of Chinese International School, would turn into a personal challenge to rekindle my long-lost youth.
I hope my little act of bravery will raise the awareness and importance of personal growth for every educator, parent and child in the local Hong Kong school community.

As a proud parent, I’m thrilled to be able to join TEAM CIS, as we abseil 1,000 feet down a skyscraper for a great cause - to support the future of youth in Hong Kong.
I look forward to conquering my fears and facing this exciting challenge!
