Our History

What does "Outward Bound" mean?

Originally named for the nautical term for a ship’s departure, the term ‘Outward Bound’ has been adapted and evolved to represent a global institution whose ethos and purpose is to help people discover and care for themselves and in so doing, empower them to care for those around them.

Currently, the Outward Bound network consists of 38 independent Outward Bound Schools, in 35 countries, across 6 continents.
